oxfordphil - leader and conductor

Although I had spent much of my life leading orchestras I felt there were still challenges to be had from the hot seat, so from 1999 to 2007 I accepted to be leader and sometimes conductor of the Oxford Philomusica. As a result,I first conducted Sibelius's 5th and then in November 2007, I had the opportunity to conduct Bruckner's 4th, the composer who's works represents the "Holy Grail" to me.
Two of my favourite works!

The founder and Principal Conductor of the Oxfordphil is Marios Papadopoulos, seen at left in rehearsal. In the photo on the right I'm in conversation with the Duke of Edinburgh and conductor/pianist Vladimir Ashkenazy.
