making a serious point!

a decade with the eyo

For 11 happy years from 1982 I was Principal Conductor of the Essex Youth Orchestra, one of the leading youth orchestras of the country. Together we gave many high profile concerts, including the annual Royal Albert Hall (right) gala choral concert, and embarked on several foreign tours to Europe and the USA.

Below: Joan Collins 1923-2008, who was the EYO organiser and inspiration for many years up until the early '80s, died on 21st September 2008. Many ex-EYO members, including myself, attended the Memorial Service on 31st October in Chelmsford Cathedral

From 1989 to 1992 I returned to the Royal Academy, but now as "Director of Orchestral Studies and Artistic Director of the RAM Symphony Orchestra". But sadly, it was a less than "happy return"!
